关于 Fundo Resto de Cordillera Río Blanco

The property is one of the few places with left in the world with these characteristics and proximity to modern society. This listing includes more than 30,000 hectares, 37 kilometers of coastline, 5 virgin beaches, pristine fresh water streams and native forests with larch trees that are over 1000 years old.

The location is the Coastal Range of Northern Chilean Patagonia, 60 kilometers due west of the growing tourist cities of Puerto Varas and Frutillar. The property can also be reached by helicopter in less than 25 minutes from the Tepaul Airport in Puerto Montt, which offers more than 10 daily 1.5 hour flights from Chile´s International airport in Santiago.

The lengthy coastline contains includes a protected bay with three calm lagoons that are encircled by peninsulas, rock formations, and small islands that provide sanctuary for sea lions, itinerant blue whale and orca herds, as well as Chilean abalone. Native forests begin behind the coast and are flanked by a high plateau with a watershed where 8 rivers are born in the property. Six of these waterways fall and flow into the Pacific Ocean, providing long natural inlets and secluded beaches. The other 2 rivers run into the 70 km wide valley that divides the Pacific Ocean and the volcanic lakes of Chile´s 10th region, which is considered the northern border of Patagonia.

The inland ecosystem is rich and diverse. Several thousand-year-old native trees can be found, as well as an array of exotic vegetation and flora, including wild orchids and carnivorous plants. One will also see traces of pumas and many different bird species that are unique to Chile. Millenary untouched peat bogs protect water sources as well as unique mosses, plants and Darwin frogs.

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES

1) The beautiful beaches, calm rivers, numerous trails, and amazing views make this property uniquely appealing and suitable for preservation and ecotourism.
2) The property has significant potential for generating both wind and hydro renewable energy. The high plateau has few large trees or dense forest as a result of a natural combination of strong winds and a thin cap of peat soil, grasses, and sphagnum moss. The average wind speeds on the high plateau are in the range of 7.5 to 10 meters per second. Three wind measurement towers have been installed. According to proprietary studies, the wind resource on the property could provide up to 2% (1 million megawatt hours per year) of Chile´s current energy demand.
3) At 800 meters above sea level, the property hosts more than 3500 ha of pristine bogs that yield some of the best quality sphagnum moss. This Sphagnum Magallanicum, has different uses, mostly demanded by orchid growers. Sphagnum Moss must be harvested and managed sustainably in order to assure it continue to grow and also to protect the mire ecosystem.
4) Most of the land area is forested. Developing carbon markets may provide additional cash flows for conservation.
